Art; Yum

Something about art just makes me so excited. One of my favorite artists out right now (besides KAWS and Takashi Murakami) would have to be Jeremyville. His work is very creative and every time I see something new from him I rack my brain trying to figure out what it means or the story behind it.

I was talking to someone the other day and we happened to be talking about differnt forms/styles of art. They wanted to know the difference between Realism, Primitive, and Surrealism art. So here ya go:
  • Realism is art that shows things exactly as they appear. Like if I wanted to paint a tree, I would just paint the tree as I see it with no extra details.
  • Primitive art is basically art for children. The pictures are usually painted very simply, and the subjects are flat or two-dimensional.
  • Lastly and my favorite, Surrealism is generally based on dreams. These paintings are painted to look strange or mysterious. They were made to make people look at things in a different way and change the way they felt about things.
(The Elephant Celebes, 1921; Oil on canvas)

Since I'm on the topic of art anyways. My favorite surreal artist would have to be Max Ernst. He's known as one of the primary pioneers of Surrealism and Dada (dadaism; a cultural movement that began in Zürich, Switzerland). The movement involved visual arts, literature—poetry, art manifestoes, art theory—theatre, and graphic design.

It's funny because my love for art is like whoa, but I couldn't draw if my life depended on it.
